A fresh and inviting wine bar is coming to Solihull, promising an atmosphere that feels just like “visiting your nan’s kitchen.”
The Brownie & Bake Company, run by husband and wife duo Rachael Vitins and Dave Walker, is expanding its family business with an exciting new venture inside Chelmsley Wood Shopping Centre. While Rachael, 44, focuses on baking, and Dave, 64, attends to customers at their bakery, their children Annabelle and Alex occasionally pitch in, keeping it truly a family affair.
Known for their delicious brownies and Black Country-style bread, the family is preparing to open The Brownie Bakery & Wine Bar next month, blending the comfort of home-cooked food with a cozy wine bar experience.

Although the wine bar is a new concept for the family, Rachael and Dave bring years of experience serving alcohol. Previously, they operated a mobile ‘pub on wheels,’ traveling around festivals across the country.
When the opportunity arose to open a venue in the shopping centre, the couple quickly seized it. “From checking out the unit to signing the contract, it all happened within weeks,” Rachael shares. “People are already asking when we’ll open, and the support has been amazing.”
The Brownie Bakery & Wine Bar aims to serve fresh, comforting food just like you’d find at your nan’s table. Customers can look forward to cheese and onion cobs, cottage loaf, and homemade dishes such as lasagne, pizza, and toasties.
On the drinks side, they’re focusing on local Birmingham ales alongside a selection of popular beers and wines. Sampling from various suppliers has been a fun part of the process as they curate the perfect menu.
Rachael explains, “We don’t want to be too rigid with plans—we’re going with the flow to see how things develop naturally.”
With the key handover imminent and final preparations underway, this charming new spot is ready to bring a genuine taste of home to Chelmsley Wood very soon.
