Why Aston Villa Will Not Screen Europa League Final at Villa Park

Aston Villa have confirmed that due to ongoing redevelopment at Villa Park, fans will not be able to watch the Europa League final on the big screen at the stadium. Construction on the North Stand is set to begin immediately after the club’s final home game of the season against Liverpool on May 15.

The redevelopment project has been accelerated, leaving no flexibility to postpone the work. As a result, the North Stand will be closed for the entire 2026/27 season. However, this fast-tracked approach will deliver a significantly upgraded facility sooner than planned, increasing Villa Park’s seating capacity to over 50,000.

The expansion will add approximately 5,500 new seats to the North Stand, alongside other seating optimization improvements around the stadium scheduled for this summer.

Given these circumstances, the club’s only official viewing event for the Europa League final will take place at the Sports Illustrated Warehouse. This Watch Party is being organized for supporters unable to travel to Istanbul for the match.

Aston Villa will face Bundesliga side Freiburg in the final at the Tupraş Stadium in Istanbul after a dominant 4-1 aggregate victory over Nottingham Forest in the semi-finals. Under Unai Emery’s management, Villa overturned a first-leg deficit with a 4-0 win at Villa Park. On the other side, Freiburg secured their spot with a 4-3 aggregate win against Braga, who were reduced to 10 men early in the second leg.
