Sushi lovers in Birmingham have reason to celebrate as Sushi Tachi officially opens its first restaurant in the Midlands today, Monday, July 20. The new city centre spot, located in the Grand Central shopping centre above Birmingham New Street station, marks an exciting expansion for the Hong Kong-based sushi company.
Already established with two restaurants in London, Sushi Tachi is now bringing its traditional sushi platters to Birmingham, with Leeds also slated as the next location in its UK growth strategy.
In an enthusiastic announcement, Sushi Tachi shared: “London, we love you, but it’s time to take this show up the M40! We are incredibly hyped to announce that we are officially opening our first ever shop outside of the capital. On July 20, we’re setting up home right in the heart of Birmingham at Grand Central! Whether you’ve been a fan from afar or are about to discover your new obsession, we can’t wait to welcome you.”

The new restaurant occupies Unit 38, previously the home of the juice bar Fuel, which closed earlier this year but still operates nearby in the Bullring.
Sushi Tachi isn’t the only new venture arriving at Grand Central. Nearby on Link Street, the emerging baking experience “Ready Steady Make It” has put up signage promising “something exciting is baking,” offering a new social event for friends, couples, parties, and team days.
