Stourbridge Cafe Owner to Rename Cob ‘Bellingham Bun’ if England Triumph Over Argentina

In a spirited show of hometown support, the owner of The Cosy Cob cafe in Stourbridge has pledged to rename one of his signature cob sandwiches the “Bellingham bun” if England secures victory against Argentina in the upcoming World Cup semi-final.

This bold proclamation comes on the heels of midfielder Jude Bellingham’s standout performance in England’s last match against Norway, where he scored twice to help propel his team forward. Bellingham, a native of Stourbridge, is poised to make a decisive impact once again.

Holding up a traditional Black Country cob, the cafe owner declared, “If England win, this won’t be the ‘cosy cob’ anymore — it’s going to be the ‘Bellingham bun.’”

The pride doesn’t end there. Locals have shown their admiration by creating signs celebrating Bellingham, emphasizing his strong Stourbridge roots. One sign proudly reads, “Jude Bellingham is from Stourbridge, not Birmingham.”

Addressing the sign, the cafe owner remarked, “We made this for the people of Stourbridge because it’s genuinely important to us. Jude belongs here. He’s one of our own.”

He added with a smile, “Of course, we know he means a lot to Birmingham too. What a player — truly incredible. He’s doing his best not just for England but for our local area, putting us on the map. Hopefully, he takes us all the way to the final.”

Born in Stourbridge, Bellingham attended school in Edgbaston and spent his formative football years playing for Birmingham City, reinforcing his strong connection to the region.

In past interviews, the Real Madrid star expressed his affection for Birmingham, saying, “I always felt like Birmingham was a place where everyone wanted to see everyone do well. It’s where I was lucky to grow up.”

Reflecting on his journey, Jude added, “I want to show the world that where I come from is amazing, full of great values. Sometimes I get it wrong, but that’s part of being a Brummie too.”
