Santander has announced a new age restriction for customers looking to open the Santander Edge Explorer current account, alongside a £180 switching incentive. This offer is available to customers who switch their banking to the Edge Explorer account, but applicants must be between 18 and 73 years old and reside permanently in the UK.
The bank, which operates numerous branches including locations in Birmingham, states: “Get £180 when you switch to our Santander Edge Explorer current account.” However, this promotion excludes those who held a Santander current account as of 1 January 2025 or who have previously received a Santander switcher incentive. The offer may end at any time, and terms and conditions apply.
Account holders will pay a £17 monthly fee, which Santander will deduct starting the month after account opening and will continue until the account is closed. Eligibility criteria require single account holders to be aged 18 to 73, while joint account holders must both meet this age range and live at the same UK address.

Additional benefits include travel insurance, available until customers reach 75 years old, and a 24/7 GP service accessible via unique email addresses for joint account holders. Note that having multiple insurance policies may result in duplicate coverage, and claims cannot be made more than once for the same issue.
To benefit from the offer, customers must open a Santander Edge Explorer current account, initiate the switch promptly, and complete it within 60 days. They must also have at least two active household Direct Debits and pay in a minimum of £1,500 during this period. Ensure all provided information matches that of the previous bank to successfully process the switch.
