After nearly three decades as a fixture on Birmingham’s bustling New Street, Moss is set to close its longstanding shop this September. The retailer, known for outfitting Brummies in stylish suits and accessories since the 1960s, has operated from the prominent corner of Temple Street and New Street since 1998.
Earlier this year, Moss opened a fresh branch in the Bullring Shopping Centre, taking over the space formerly occupied by Yours on the middle floor near Marks and Spencer. This move follows a 2023 rebranding from Moss Bros back to Moss.
Shop staff have confirmed that the New Street location will remain open through the summer months, with the exact closing date forthcoming. A sign in the New Street window directs customers to explore their full collection at the Bullring store, located at Birmingham B5 4BU.

The New Street shop sits adjacent to the former T4 unit, which closed late last year and is currently available for lease. Both properties are part of the Temple Buildings complex, which changed hands in a £4 million deal last year. The Grade II-listed building was sold by MK2 Real Estate to a private investor.
This closure comes amid other retail changes on New Street, including the announcement of Bird and Blend, a specialty tea shop, replacing the former Claire’s Accessories store. Additionally, Maki and Ramen is putting the finishing touches on its new restaurant in King Edward House, closer to the Bullring.
As New Street continues to evolve, Moss’s move consolidates its presence in the heart of Birmingham’s shopping district, offering customers a modern shopping experience at its Bullring location.
