Jonella-Louise Crichlow has defied every expectation set for her from the very beginning. Diagnosed with Tetralogy of Fallot—a complex and life-threatening heart condition—she underwent open-heart surgery at just six months old, narrowly escaping death twice during the procedure. Now, at 14, Jonella-Louise has faced five additional keyhole surgeries and continues to receive expert care at Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
Despite the challenges, her passion and determination remain unshaken. This September, she will begin her studies at Tring Park School for the Performing Arts, a prestigious institution known for nurturing talents like Dame Julie Andrews and Lily James. With tuition fees around £15,000 per term, her mother, Anne-Louise Crichlow, has launched a fundraiser to help make this dream a reality.
Anne-Louise shares, “The hospital called her a miracle after she spent three months there. She’s doing everything the doctors said she shouldn’t, so I’m not going to hold her back. When you see your child’s talent, you have to nurture it—it gives them strength.” She highlights Jonella-Louise’s remarkable abilities: “She prefers acting but has an extraordinary voice without any formal vocal training. She can sing, dance, and act—truly a triple threat.”

Jonella-Louise reflects on her journey with hope and gratitude. “I learned to dance before I could walk. My childhood memories are filled with Disney movies, singing, and dancing. I want to keep pursuing musical theatre, and I’m so thankful for everyone who supports me.”
Her determination and talent stand as powerful reminders that obstacles don’t define us—dreams do.
