Major UK Fashion Chain LK Bennett to Close All 22 Stores Next Week

Iconic British fashion retailer LK Bennett is set to close all 22 of its stores and concessions across the UK by early next week. The announcement, made via the company’s official Instagram page, signals the end of an era for the brand after nearly 36 years in operation.

The retailer urged customers to take advantage of its final sale, offering up to 80% off across all collections in-store: “Only 6 days remain before our stores close. Visit us exclusively in-store to enjoy up to 80% off across all collections. Once it’s gone, it’s gone — don’t miss your final chance to shop.”

In December, LK Bennett filed for administration following financial difficulties, which included breaching debt agreements according to an auditor’s report by Grant Thornton. The report highlighted “material uncertainty related to going concern” and the need to renegotiate outstanding debts by the following month.

Though the business was acquired in January by Gordon Brothers—the owners of Poundland—the deal did not extend to LK Bennett’s physical stores. This exclusion has led to the impending closure of all 22 standalone locations and concessions.

Affected stores include prime retail spots such as Knightsbridge, New Bond Street, and White City Westfield in London, as well as locations across Chester, Kingston upon Thames, Harrogate, and Dublin.

The closures mark the end for a beloved British retailer that has been a staple of UK fashion for over three decades, reflecting broader challenges facing high street brands in the evolving retail landscape.
