IKEA Issues Urgent Recall on Two Kitchen Essentials Due to Safety Concerns

IKEA has announced an urgent recall of two popular kitchen products, advising customers to stop using them immediately due to potential safety hazards. The recall affects the IKEA 365+ VÄRDEFULL garlic press and the IKEA 365+ HJÄLTE stirring spatula.

The 365+ VÄRDEFULL garlic press, specifically the black model with article number 201.521.58 and date stamps ranging from 2411 to 2522 (YYWW), is being recalled because of a production defect. This defect may cause small metal pieces to detach during use, posing a serious risk of ingestion and injury. IKEA urges all customers who own this item, regardless of whether they can identify the date stamp, to discontinue use immediately and return it to any IKEA store for a full refund. No proof of purchase is required. Assistance is also available by contacting IKEA at 01733 520 006.

Similarly, the IKEA 365+ HJÄLTE stirring spatula with article number 401.494.62 and date stamp 2445 (products purchased after November 2024) has been recalled following safety concerns identified during local testing in Belgium. The test revealed the presence of primary aromatic amines (PAA) exceeding permissible limits, which could pose health risks. Customers are advised to stop using the affected stirring spatula and return it for a full refund, without needing a receipt. IKEA encourages customers to reach out for further guidance by calling 01733 520 006 or visiting their website.
