IKEA Issues Urgent Recall on Garlic Press Over Safety Concerns

IKEA, the globally renowned furniture and home goods retailer, has issued an urgent safety recall for its IKEA 365+ VÄRDEFULL Garlic press, after identifying a manufacturing defect that could pose a health risk to consumers.

The recall specifically targets certain batches of the black garlic press, sold worldwide both in stores and online, due to the possibility of small metal fragments detaching during use. These fragments could inadvertently end up in food, creating a potential ingestion hazard.

IKEA discovered the issue during an internal quality inspection and is advising all customers who own the affected products to stop using them immediately. The recalled garlic presses can be identified by the article number 601.636.02, an IKEA logo on the upper handle, and date stamps ranging from 2411 through 2522—interpreted as Year-Week codes (e.g., 2411 corresponds to the 11th week of 2024).

Customers are encouraged to return the faulty item to any IKEA store for a full refund, with no receipt or proof of purchase required. IKEA has also requested that anyone who may have received the garlic press as a gift or loan to inform the owner about the recall to ensure safety.

The company expressed sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused and reaffirmed its commitment to product safety and customer well-being. This garlic press recall follows several other recent product recalls by IKEA, as the brand continues to prioritize the highest quality standards.

For safety, customers should check the date stamps and product details to confirm if their garlic press is affected and promptly cease use if it falls within the recalled batch.
