Body Cam Captures Arrest of Terror Suspect After Golders Green Synagogue Stabbings

The Metropolitan Police have released striking body camera footage showing the tense arrest of a suspect involved in a violent stabbing attack near a synagogue in Golders Green, north London.

On the morning of Wednesday, April 29, two men aged 76 and 34 were stabbed shortly after 11 a.m. One victim, Shilome Rand, was attacked in the chest as he exited a local synagogue. The incident marks the latest in a series of troubling assaults targeting London’s Jewish community.

The 45-year-old suspect, a British national of Somali descent, was subdued after officers deployed a Taser during a confrontational and dangerous arrest attempt, according to reports from the Mirror. The newly released footage captures the critical moments leading up to his detainment.

Throughout the encounter, police officers can be heard repeatedly commanding the suspect to “drop the knife.” Despite continued resistance and attempts to strike the officers, they exercised restraint and employed their training to safely take him down with a Taser. As the knife is tossed aside, the man is handcuffed and informed he is under arrest on suspicion of attempted murder.

The Metropolitan Police praised the bravery and professionalism of their officers, highlighting the danger they faced and their calm, disciplined response under pressure. Met Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley personally met the team involved and described their actions as “nothing short of extraordinary,” emphasizing they were simply fulfilling their duty to protect the public.

The attack has deeply unsettled the local community and Jewish leaders have expressed the sense of relentless fear impacting their day-to-day lives. Political figures, including Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge, have voiced concern and pledged to closely monitor the situation.

Victim Shilome Rand, currently recovering in hospital, spoke candidly about the rising unease: “People are afraid walking in the street… Our community has been suffering these attacks for months, and now lives are being put at risk. The government must do more to address this.”
