Birmingham’s much-loved pub crawl, the JQ Beer Weekend, is back for its fourth year, promising another exciting celebration of the city’s vibrant hospitality scene. Running from Thursday, April 16 to Saturday, April 18, this year’s event features 26 fantastic venues across the Jewellery Quarter, offering something for every taste.
Participants who visit at least six venues during the crawl will earn an exclusive JQ Beer Weekend t-shirt – a perfect keepsake to commemorate the lively experience. Whether you prefer a crisp lager or a refreshing lemonade, the weekend is all about enjoying great drinks, delicious food, and meeting new friends.
James Jackson, general manager at The Church, one of the neighborhood’s popular pubs, shared his enthusiasm for the event. Reflecting on last year’s turnout, which he described as “one of the busiest” days, James anticipates another record-breaking weekend. “The Jewellery Quarter feels like a small town with a strong community vibe,” he said. “This pub crawl is special because it offers a different experience from visiting the city center. The pubs are just a short walk away from each other, making it easy to explore and soak up the atmosphere.”

At The Church, visitors can enjoy the traditional pub ambiance inside or head out to the roof terrace for a range of tasty food options. “It’s a fun, sociable weekend where people come together over good vibes and great drinks,” James added.
Another standout venue is The Clifden, which reopened in February with a fresh twist—swapping pizzas for curries. Assistant manager Michael Lynch believes the pub will be buzzing throughout the event. “The Jewellery Quarter Beer Weekend has become a staple for Birmingham, bringing together the best local pubs within walking distance. People love wandering from place to place, discovering new spots and flavors. For many, this is easily Birmingham’s best pub crawl.”
Michael recommends not missing The Clifden during the crawl: “It strikes a perfect balance — lively enough to feel exciting but relaxed enough to enjoy yourself. The drinks are great, the music’s on point, and it’s the kind of place where you end up staying longer than planned.”
Whether you’re a serious beer enthusiast or just popping by for some water, the JQ Beer Weekend is a fantastic opportunity to support Birmingham’s independent pubs and bars. Prepare to explore, enjoy, and celebrate the unique spirit of the Jewellery Quarter over three unforgettable days.
