19 Championship Players Released as Birmingham City Finalise Retained List

As the Championship season wraps up, clubs are finalising their retained lists, and Birmingham City is no exception. The Blues must notify out-of-contract players about their futures by Saturday, May 16. Notably, Jonathan Panzo is the only senior player at Birmingham City whose contract is expiring this summer.

Several other Championship clubs have already confirmed their released players. Charlton Athletic have let go of midfielders Luke Berry and Terry Taylor. Berry, 33, was instrumental in Charlton’s promotion to the Championship in the 2024/25 season and has previously worked with manager Nathan Jones at two clubs.

Charlton have also extended an option on Tyreece Campbell’s contract and are negotiating a new deal with former Blues striker Lyndon Dykes, whose contract expires at the end of June.

Queens Park Rangers have parted ways with two seasoned goalkeepers, Paul Nardi and Ben Hamer. Nardi, the French goalkeeper, featured in 17 Championship matches last season, including QPR’s 2-1 victory over Birmingham at Loftus Road. Additionally, midfielder Isaac Hayden will leave QPR at season’s end.

Norwich City have released several experienced players, including Shane Duffy, Emiliano Marcondes, and Jeffrey Schlupp. While Duffy and Schlupp are in their thirties, Marcondes, aged 31, was a key player for Norwich until recently, scoring five goals and providing eight assists in the 2024/25 campaign. Winger Tony Springett and backup goalkeeper Dan Barden will also depart Carrow Road.

Following their relegation, Oxford United have released former Blues loanee Przemysław Płacheta and striker Tom Bradshaw. Other players leaving Oxford include Myles Peart-Harris, Hidde ter Avest, Owen Dale, Will Goodwin, Joshua Johnson, Jacob Knightbridge, Steph Negru, and Stuart Findlay as the club transitions into League One.
